Smell like Coco Mademoiselle without paying Chanel
Crush Absolu is a week old, and the cheap shelves already smell almost exactly like it.
Chanel dropped Crush Absolu last week, and The Independent already had a bottle from Next lined up next to it, one that costs about as much as lunch, with the verdict that nobody walking past would hear the difference. The new one is Coco Mademoiselle with Olivier Polge swapping the orange for lychee and grapefruit and sweetening the patchouli base with amber and vanilla. That sweet rose on patchouli is what everyone below is copying. The first three are the closest — smell them in order.
Cheap copies the top, niche copies the base. Patchouli, the earthy leaf holding all of Coco Mademoiselle up under the citrus, gets swapped for musk in the budget versions, and then the whole thing is gone by lunch. So after two bottles off a mall shelf come three where the rose and the lychee are real and the price sits exactly between Zara and Chanel.
Where the dupe ends and the niche begins
Noses tell the difference. Wallets don't.
Crush Absolu holds for half a day, the old Coco Mademoiselle for a full one, and most dupes quit before lunch; the only thing here that outlives the Chanel is the Mancera syrup. If you need to smell like Coco Mademoiselle for one evening, get Next and don't overthink it. If you need people to know you by it, the way they know Gracie Abrams, the new face of the line, only the bottle with the double C does that.
