Hall of fame · 📉 Deflated · 1982
Hostage of the Eighties. Wrote the rules of the 80s. Never left them. Pierre Wargnye set lavender on oakmoss and leather — the fougère skeleton every men's scent copied for a decade. Then it got eaten twice: IFRA cut the moss and the base went flat, and the L'Oréal licence walked the bottle onto discount shelves. “Dad's cologne” is fair: your dad wore exactly this. He deflated honestly: the 2010 Hall of Fame award was a monument, not a title defence — and a monument is what has stood on the shelf ever since.
